Engineering Ambassador

UC Davis College of Engineering Ambassadors Program

The  College of Engineering Ambassadors program started in 2018 and has become a vital addition to the college. As an Engineering Ambassador, I worked closely with the Dean of Engineering and was involved in activities related to recruiting, retention, and outreach for the college. Some of my favorite events to participate in were Give Day, E-Week, student panels, and the College of Engineering Alumni Association. I had the opportunity to lead on campus tours of the engineering buildings and host virtual Live Chats for prospective students to learn more about the Aggie experience. As a founding member of the COEA, I had the opportunity to help shape the program into an entity that bridged the gap between UC Davis students, faculty, and alumni. I continued as a Engineering Ambassador until I graduated in Spring of 2021. I continue to thank the program for creating a diverse community within the College of Engineering for students to develop their leadership skills and professional growth.

Director of Outreach

UC Davis Biomedical Engineering Society

As Director of Outreach for the UC Davis BMES chapter in 2020, I was responsible for reaching out to individual classrooms to create an intimate learning experience and give students the opportunity to understand biomedical engineering. As an officer, I wanted to focus on underserved schools in Yolo county and organized several hands-on STEM activities for students grades 2-12. Some activities included: an electrocardiogram activity, water balloon helmet activity, and strawberry DNA experiment. The COVID-19 pandemic hindered many of our hands-on activities planned for Spring Quarter but I was excited and determined to explore new and creative ways to perform outreach events. I gathered a few members of BMES and created online courses to teach students via Zoom with YouTube videos as additional materials. Despite unprecedented setbacks, the outreach events were a huge success and a great learning experience for everyone.

In an effort to support BMES and advance the COEA program, I successfully encouraged and recruited four BMES members to become College of Engineering Ambassadors.

RESURG UC Davis Medical Center

RESURG (Research Experience in Surgery) is a clinical research internship program at the UC Davis Medical Center. As the Trauma Research Assistant for the Trauma Surgical Department of Research, I was Responsible for submitting protocol amendments to the Institutional Review Board and performing data entry, while practicing Good Clinical Practices and HIPPA compliance. In addition to my role as a research assistant, I was selected to be a mentor for a new research assistant. As a mentor, I helped guide my mentee into their role in the program and aided their understanding of clinical research. While I was the Lead Research Assistant for a multi-site clinical study, UC Davis was recognized as one of the highest achieving sites and received a $5,000 grant to advance the study. During this time, I was also selected to develop the internship program’s first philanthropy outreach program for underserved youth interested in healthcare. The program was called Fostering the Future and received over 80 applicants from 15 different schools in Sacramento County. Fostering the Future gave 30 high school students the opportunity to learn more about clinical research, medical professionals, and higher education, free of charge. As the Program Developer, I was responsible for building the curriculum, organizing workshops, creating training documents and facilitating applications for the event. The event was a huge success and a great learning experience.

Performer and Event Coordinator

UC Davis Ground and Field Theatre Festival

The Ground and Field Theatre Festival (GFTF) is a non-profit theatre event that cultivates new plays and musicals through a collaboration of artists, scholars, and playwrights from around the world. The mission of the festival is to embrace and vocalize social, economic, and environmental sustainability. Over the course of six weeks, more than eleven performances were made free of charge to every audience member as a part of our mission to make performance art accessible to everyone. As a new member to the UC Davis theatre community, I was thrilled to be a core ensemble member and help produce the festival. I was responsible for the festival’s main showcasing event held at the Jan and Manetti Shrem Museum of Art. After planning the event and managing over sixty volunteer work schedules, the showcase was a huge success resulting in a full house for nearly every performance of Ranked: A New Musical. As a performer in the production, I was excited to learn that Ranked: A New Musical had been named Best Musical (non-professional) in 2019 by  Sacramento’s BroadWayWorld. The musical gained popularity across the US in 2020 and the creators are in process of taking the show to New York.
